New Year Catch-up

So I have been really MIA, but for a really good reason. Hudson Fischer made his appearance quite early, on December 20. Hello tax break?
I'm sure I will get around to posting his birth story but it was not the experience I had hoped for and I am still trying to cope and wrap my head around it...it is sitting in my drafts...empty.
Today is the perfect day for a catch up becauuussseee our handsome little man is ONE MONTH OLD! This month has flown by. My mom came and stayed to help me out while J went back to work, she was here 2 weeks and I can't say enough how much help she was. Hudson was born by emergency C-section so although I was moving around really well, there was still a lot I wasn't supposed to be doing. She helped do all the house stuff so I could focus ALL my attention on the new man in our lives.
I couldn't have ever imagined how much of an impact he would make on me, an our lives. I could literally sit and stare at him for hours, I am in such awe. Here are 10 thing I have leaned about him, and about being a new mom...
1. Breast feeding takes work. Don't lose patience and don't be too hard on yourself! At the end of the day, Hidson is getting breast milk and that is the best thing for him!
2. Any plans you had before on what you will and won't do with your baby....probably will be thrown out the window. That whole "I won't hold him all the time, he needs to self soothe" yeah right.
3. Not all babies are the same. They won't grow the same, like the same things, or have the same strength.
4. Hudson has already rolled from back to front, and front to back a handful of times...I really have to watch him.
5. He wants to look at me, and possibly try to eat my face every time I burp him. Lifting his head up on his own and looking around. He has done this since 1 week old when we were released from the NICU.
6. Your spouse is not a mind reader, is you need help...ask for it!
7. In turn...they will continue to sleep how they always have. He won't wake up with every sneeze, cough, hiccup....breath....like you as a new mommy will.
8. Babies will do something every single day that melts your heart. When I feed Hudson on the left side, he holds my ring finger....I may or may not have teared up the first time he did it. He does it every time and I would be lying if I told you I wouldn't be sad if and when he stops.
9. Wait at least 5 minutes after you hear them take a big poo...chances are, they aren't done. I speak from experience!
10. Everyone tells you how fast they grow up and change...they are absolutely right. Hudson has lost his "newborn" look and sometimes looks like a little boy, like he has skipped the "baby" phase already. I can't deal!

Happy One Month Birthday little boy, we love you so much already and can't wait to see what new things you have in store for us!
